Implementation Methodology

Taking a structured approach to completing every initiative is key to success. There must be planning and an appropriate level of controls put in place throughout the initiative. This includes the very beginning, when you are working to define what you will do and how. Our methodology includes detailed steps to assess your current state to make sure there is a clear plan from where you are today to where you want to be when the initiative is complete. In addition, the definition of the "end state" must be clear so you can measure not only the level of success, but the fact you reached the goal.

Strategy

Every successful effort starts with a well thought out plan and vision of what will be done. CBC takes a structured approach to developing the strategy of the solution, the approach to the project and clearly defining the ways success will be measured at completion of the initiative. Defining the high-level current state, or As-Is, includes understanding the current metrics that are targeted for change. Defining the high-level future state, or To-Be, includes setting the goals for the new metrics and understanding best practices related to the initiative within the industry and in other organizations. Part of the initiative planning includes determining the approach to managing the change and building buy-in across the organizations effected.

Analysis

Developing the detailed requirements of the process and/or technology starts from the As-Is developed as part of the Strategy. The As-Is provides a guideline to the organizations and processes to be effected. The Analysis phase of the methodology takes the identified areas to be effected and documents the details to be changed, the details of the future state and begins execution on the Change Plan developed in the Strategy phase.

Design

The details of the future process and/or technology are mapped out with specifics captured for what the solution will deliver. Within the Design phase, the target metrics set in the Strategy phase are built into the process for measurement. For initiatives including technology components, mock-ups for the user interface are developed within the Design phase.

Build

All infrastructure changes needed for process changes and technology development is executed. Initiatives including technology components involve all the development, integration, Quality Assurance testing and User Acceptance Testing within the Build phase.

Deploy

Training, installations and launch of the solution is the culmination of the effort to realize the To-Be model.

Measure

During the Strategy phase, goals and metrics were set to define success. During the Measure phase, we now go back to start seeing the progress that has been made.

Transition

As consultants, our role is to assist you in the process of planning and executing on your vision. Once we have succeeded in this support, we disengage, having worked to keep you team involved from beginning to end. With full transfer of any remaining knowledge required, and delivery of all documentation, your organization owns the processes and technology that were engineered and deployed. This complete hand-off is a critical component to your on-going success. Your team members need to be self sufficient before we leave. While we're always only a phone call away, it's your success we're working to facilitate, not an extension to the project.
